Cheese Sandwich Making

Cheese Sandwich Making_Centre 507_2014Under the oversight of the Mission Team, we have a dedicated group of volunteers who care deeply for those who are hungry.   Our action takes the form of making cheese sandwiches once a month.   We invite you to join us!

Every third Tuesday of each month at 7:00 pm in the church’s Lower Hall cheese sandwiches are made, people engaged in conversation and friendships deepened.   The sandwiches support the Street outreach ministry of Centre 507.

Besides offering food and a friendly face, the sandwiches give the outreach workers the opportunity to invite the recipients to Centre 507 where they will find an “adult drop-in centre that is open to all who seek a safe, friendly and supportive environment.”  Serving Ottawa’s disadvantaged since 1983, the centre is at 507 Bank Street near the corner of Argyle.   Many Centre 507 participants face a combination of economic and social disadvantages. Homelessness, unstable housing, mental illness, addiction, health concerns, poverty, employment and loneliness are among their challenges.   We help our participants address these challenges.
